Introduction

The behavior policy of a school in the UAE must align with the guidelines set by both the UAE Ministry of Education to supportive learning environment for all students. The goal of this policy is to encourage positive behaviors, ensure accountability, and effectively manage any misbehavior through a structured and fair process. This policy will include a mark-based system to track and address student behavior in a clear, consistent, and transparent manner, ensuring full compliance with the standards set by the Ministry of Education and KHDA.

Rewards and Consequences

At Dhruv Global School, we adopt a positive and inclusive approach to behavior management. Our focus is on building strong relationships through restorative practices that promote self-esteem, self-discipline, and clear expectations for all members of the school community. We place a strong emphasis on recognition, praise, and encouragement to inspire and motivate students. Teachers are responsible for effectively communicating the expectations, rewards, and consequences to their students in ways that align with their individual needs and learning styles.

Behavior Management Committee:

It is one of the committees to be formed at the school, which is entrusted with discussing the students problems in educational and behavioral terms and deciding the actions to be taken against the violating students, in accordance with the provisions hereof. This Committee shall be composed as follows: The school Principal as the chairman.

The academic advisor/social worker as a member and administrator. The head of students affairs unit as a member. Inclusion Champion for SOD’S

One of the school teachers (regardless of specialization) as a member.

The chairman of the school student’s council, who shall attend discussing sessions only and not the sessions
dedicated to considering the student’s issues.

Low Level Misbehavior

Tardiness: Late to assembly or first period (over 10 minutes) without a valid excuse.

Classroom Disruptions: Entering/exiting the classroom during lessons without permission, or missing class/school activities without an excuse. Any form of distraction such as shouting, running in the corridors, and interrupting classes.

Uniform Violations: Non-compliance with school or PE uniform standards.

Lack of Preparation: Failure to bring required books, materials, or homework.

Electronic Misuse: Misuse of electronic games and headphones in class.
The class teacher addresses these issues.

The teacher reminds students of the appropriate behavior and expectations.

If students comply after the teacher’s warning, no further action will be taken.

Medium Level Misbehavior

Repeated Level 1 behavior

Absenteeism: Missing school before or after vacations, holidays, weekends, or exams without an excuse.

Aggressive Behavior: Inciting fights, threatening, or intimidating peers.

Vandalism: Graffiti or damaging school furniture or buses.

Privacy Violations: Photographing or sharing images of staff/students without permission.
If after the final warning the student continues, the teacher emails “ON CALL” and the child is removed from the lesson by a Senior or Middle Leader.

This results in a 30-minute detention automatically and indicates a deduction of 15 negative points.

A meeting with the counsellor and parents will be informed via phone call to explain the behavioral issues and consequences.

The child will be removed from favorite lessons such as PE or Swimmingfor 2 classes and alternate work will be given.

As well as this incident will be put up in the incident report form which indicates deduction of 30 negative points.

Assault: Assaulting others in the school without causing injury (corporal abuse).

Academic Dishonesty: Cheating in exams.

Severe Misconduct: Theft, vaping, smoking, or damaging school property.
Temporary student withdrawal.

Urgent parent meeting.

Escalation to Senior Leadership Team (SLT).

In-school suspension or out-of-school suspension.

Injury: Assaulting others in the school causing injuries to the victims (corporal abuse).

Sexual Harassment: Inappropriate conduct inside the school or school bus.

Cheating: Leaking or participating in exam question leaks.

Symbol Insults: Insulting political, religious, or social symbols of the country.

Bullying: Various types and forms of bullying.

• Loss of privileges such as PE and Swimming and deduction of 400 negative points.

• Parents are called immediately.

• Letter issued to parents from the Principal.

• Urgent meeting with parents to develop an Improvement Plan followed by counselling sessions.

• Severe detention (up to 2 hours). Parents will collect the student, discuss the reason for detention, and arrange further meetings if necessary. Incident will be recorded in MOE Form No.12

• If repeated, this will lead to a 3-day internal suspension followed by a1-week external suspension.

• A letter from the principal will be sent to the parents.
