Our Inclusive Support Services

The Inclusion Department at DGS offers a comprehensive range of services designed to meet the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of our students. These include:

1. Individual Education Plans (IEPs)

Personalized learning plans are developed for Students of Determination (SEND) in collaboration with teachers, parents, and specialists. These plans focus on each student’s unique strengths, challenges, and learning goals.

2. Differentiated Instruction

Classroom instruction is tailored through flexible teaching strategies, modified assessments, and customized materials to ensure all learners can access the curriculum meaningfully.

3. Specialized Support

Our specialized team provides focused interventions for students requiring additional academic assistance. This includes:

One-on-one instruction
Small group learning sessions
Skill development activities

4. Language Support – English Language Learners (ELL)

For students whose first language is not English, our ELL support ensures language development in speaking, reading, writing, and listening.
The ELL program:

Enhances academic English proficiency
Provides structured in-class and pull-out support
Ensures students from non-English-speaking backgrounds can access learning confidently and equitably

5. Gifted and Talented (G&T) Support

Identified G&T students are supported through:
• Enhanced learning in lessons and subject-specific clubs
• Enrichment opportunities such as competitions, events, and leadership roles
• Acceleration, allowing early access to advanced content based on readiness

These strategies ensure gifted learners remain challenged, motivated, and fully engaged. Regular monitoring and individualized planning further help in nurturing their potential. The school also fosters a stimulating environment that promotes creativity, critical thinking, and intellectual risk-taking.

6. Behavioral and Emotional Support

Our counseling services address:

Emotional well-being
Social skill development
Behavioral regulation and positive coping strategies
We work closely with students, families, and teachers to provide holistic support.

7. Access to Assistive Resources

Students with specific learning needs are supported through:

Assistive technology
Customized tools and accommodations
Modified learning environments
This ensures they can participate fully and confidently in school life.

8.Sensory Room

Our on-campus sensory room is a therapeutic space designed to support students with sensory processing needs. It offers a calming environment equipped with:

Tactile and visual stimuli
Relaxation tools
Emotional regulation resources
The sensory room is used by trained staff to help students self-regulate and refocus for learning.

9. Parent Webinars & Engagement

To foster strong school–home partnerships, the Inclusion Department regularly hosts informative webinars and workshops for parents on topics such as:

Inclusive strategies at home
Managing learning and behavioral challenges
Understanding child development and wellbeing

Our Team of Inclusion Experts

Our dedicated Inclusion Team works collaboratively to ensure every student is supported, empowered, and included in the school community. Key team members include:

Head of Inclusion

Oversees all inclusion-related strategies
Coordinates the delivery of support services across the school
Ensures compliance with DSIB and UAE inclusion guidelines

SEND Specialist

Provides targeted academic interventions
Supports learners through adaptive strategies
Helps teachers on inclusive practices and differentiation

ELL Specialist

Leads the ELL program and student assessments
Supports classroom teachers with language development strategies
Engages parents for consistent home–school language support

School Counselor

Offers individualized and group counseling
Supports academic, emotional, behavioral, and social development
Assists with transition planning and wellbeing initiatives

Social Worker

Provide hands-on classroom support
Assist students with SEND in daily learning tasks
Help bridge communication between students and teachers
